I know you're hurting.
I know you're disappointed.
I know you're pissed.
But I think it's important that I remind everyone of something that's easily forgotten after such a painful loss.
In 2 seasons, Rex Ryan has made the Jets relevant to the NFL again. No longer are they the joke of the league. No longer are they other teams stepping stones or whipping boys. This team will now be in the conversation for the Super Bowl every season. I know right now Rex is being killed by fans and the press and he does deserve some heat. But let's be real about this. The last time I checked, Rex Ryan wasn't on the field missing tackles. Rex Ryan wasn't letting Roethlisberger scamper around the open field like a kid with a skinned knee looking for his mom. The physical execution of the defense in the 1st half last night was embarrassing.
That's in no way, shape or form Rex's fault.
If you need more proof of how good a coach Rex actually is, look no further than the complete 180 in the 2nd half of the game. The Jets pitched a shutout on "D" and the "O" got into the endzone. The hill was just too high to climb to get back into this game. I truly believe that Rex had his men prepared for this game, the players just shit the bed when the ball was snapped.
I can't and won't hang Rex out to dry for that.
I know that right now the wound is still painful and aggravating. Believe me I'm lost right now as I write this. As the dust settles from Sunday's game and you all have a chance to really look back on the entire season. Hopefully you will see that Rex and The Jets gave us a great 2010 season filled with memorable games and more importantly a ton of promise for the future.
And as the haters continue to pile up on Rex and the team I just have 1 thing to say to you.
As much as you will enjoy killing Rex and the Jets for Sunday's loss. Where were you when it happened? You were home watching like all of us. You were home watching THE JETS and not YOUR TEAM. So before you get on your high horse and attack our coach, take a good long look in the mirror and think about how in 2 straight seasons a rookie head coach came within 1 game of the Super Bowl while your team whoever they may be was watching him do it.
I know your response will be that he got to the game but can't win it and I can't dispute that because it's a fact.
All I know is that there are fans of 30 teams right now that will sign up for back to back Conference Championship appearances led by a coach who has an undying belief in his team and the will to continue on no matter who he pisses off to GET THAT FUCKING RING! So go ahead, have your fun while it lasts because the Jets are for real now and we're not going any"FUCKING"where.
Finally to my friends and die hards. I just have 2 words for you.
BE PROUD!!!!
Hold your heads up and be damn proud that you're a fan of the green and white. The franchise is positioned to be a major player in this league for many years to come. Stay united in the pursuit of the ring. Trust in your king and we WILL have our day in the spotlight.
